The Dublin Skyline Clock by Kieran Murray went through many paper iterations before making it onto acrylic testing as finding buildings and places that were, firstly, well known, and secondly,in possession of distinctive silhouettes took quite a few attempts.
As well as that, we also wanted this clock to have a sense of visual balance which led to quite a bit of rearranging of some of the taller buildings.
Below are some of the changes that happened around just around the 1 o clock area:
Above: The Oscar Wilde statue in Merrion Square. Very few in the office recognized that one.
Above: Another iteration, where Wilde was replaced by the Sky bar at the Guinness Brewery. A landmark building, but not because of it’s silhouette.
Above: Sky bar replaced with the beginnings of St. Stephen’s Green
Above: A more developed St. Stephen’s Green. Complete with Luas, bridge, and bandstand.
Above: A more finished acrylic print with the Luas removed
